Why PatchyBears? 

 

Our original Patchy Bear was created in 1990 while I was pregnant with my daughter Robin. Patchy was waiting in the crib when she came home from the hospital and has been a well-loved travelling companion ever since. He remains Robin's favorite stuffed animal to this day.

 

I was born into a family of seven girls. My wonderful mom taught us all to sew, starting each of us out on doll clothes and encouraging us to make our own clothes. I started qulting in the 7th grade and used leftover pieces of Quiana and polyester doubleknit in my patchwork quilts. They were abundant in the scrap bags and worked out great for patchwork ideas. Now 30 years and 100+ quilts later (thanks Mom!) the scrappy look continues in my work. The technique insures a special piece of art every time.
